Painted Ladies (and Gentlemen)

The Outdoor Co-ed Topless Pulp Fiction Appreciation Society

NYBPD2-31Last year was the first NYC Bodypainting Day, an event where dozens of models met up with dozens of artists, flown in from all over the country and all over the world, to paint on human canvases in public. It was such a success that this year it more than doubled in size, with over 100 models of all shapes and sizes, genders, races, colors, ages, physical abilities, and other attributes all getting naked together on a beautiful East Side street a few blocks from the United Nations, to get painted head-to-toe under the sun.

Needless to say, we were happy to be part of the fun, with several of our members (and a few long-time friends of the family) contributing their bodies to the general celebration.

And what an absolute joy it was! Even with hundreds of onlookers and a police presence (protective of us, but still), nothing could dampen the enthusiasm of…

4 ways to explain to friends and family why you are a #nudist

Naked and Happy

For many nudists, nudism is either a lonely activity or a hidden one. A lot of nudists go to the nude beach or to nudist resorts, without telling their friends or their family. They refrain taking pictures of themselves to avoid disclosing their sheer joy of being naked socially. While I believe it’s truly important to be accepted as who you really are, I understand the fear of consequences of disclosing you are a nudist. Here are four ways that I find useful to explain nudism and why you are a nudist. This complements my post on 10 reasons why I am a nudist.

  1. Use the International Naturist Federation definition: “Naturism is a way of life in harmony with nature, expressed through social nudity, linked to self-respect, tolerance of differing views together with respect for the environment”. Naturism is shared by millions of people worldwide and there’s nothing wrong…

Naturally Present In the Rain

Sky Clad Therapist - The Naked Psyche

It's raining and the temperature says stay inside. It’s raining and the temperature says stay inside.

Sometimes it pays to be different. The temperature is 12C (53F) with a breeze and a solid stretch of rain. So far we have over a half inch of rain (14 mm) with no end in sight until late tomorrow, if we are lucky. We needed the rain as it has been super dry this spring and early summer.

I chose this photo for today’s post because of the “out of focus” aspect of the “self,” or me. Clearly this image is more than a portrait or a selfie in that there is an undefined aspect that is hinted at in what appears. It almost invites you and me to wonder a bit about what perhaps might be outside of the surface reality.

When a person dares to just look out of the side edges of vision, one sees more than one…

Why Sky Clad Therapy

Taking it easy with a morning coffee on my back deck listening to birds and enjoying a small town's summer. Taking it easy with a morning coffee on my back deck listening to birds and enjoying a small town’s summer.

There are days when it is enough just to be. These kinds of days find me enjoying peaceful moments in the sun in my yard where nature is celebrated in flowers, shrubs, a garden, and a collection of artifacts that tell stories if I would simply sit still long enough to listen. This is part of the gift of retirement that I have embraced.

Yet, it isn’t all about sitting on a deck in my favourite outdoor rocking chair. The peacefulness bathed in sunshine is a therapy, a practice of healing broken parts that have been hidden in corners, abandoned while I was busy being a responsible adult with a family and a career.

Taking the Plunge

The Naked Truth continues...

All the preposterous nonsense that follows nudity most of the time, is generated by the self perpetuating media, who really in all honesty, like to see themselves elevated to the moral high ground. Time after time however comments or complaints shoot down the medias point of view as being irrelevant and most of the time ineffectual.
It was good to read mind you in a local newspaper recently just before the Chelmsford WNBR the words.
” Contrary to popular belief, it is not illegal to be naked in a public place ” Then of course the editor got out the black marker pen and the pixelating machine and suitably covered up “all that thou must not see ” but at least I suppose its a start.

With the good weather continuing on from June the chance to go walking from time to time has come about albeit clothed and without my…

Naked Fear Keeps Nudity In Hiding

Sky Clad Therapist - The Naked Psyche

Finding some space in a crowded day to write, hoping to satisfy the daemon that demands that I write. Finding some space in a crowded day to write, hoping to satisfy the daemon that demands that I write.

I have been trying to write a spiritual foundation that would validate naturism/nudism in our modern world that has divided itself into so many fundamentalist camps, religious and non-religious. There is a tiny crack in the armor put up by all the groups who fear natural individualism, who fear natural joy and freedom. That crack is religion. In our modern world, there is some sort of tolerance of other religions. I wound’t want to say that the tolerance is respectful, for it generally isn’t. The tolerance is “legal.” Naturism and practitioners of naturism in North America and so many other places, is threatened through vague laws which can bend at the will of those offended by human nudity, to result in legal prosecution.

Because there is a spiritual face to naturism…

The Birth of Duality – Shadow and Light

Sky Clad Therapist - The Naked Psyche

Duality. the birth of darkness and light, consciousness and the unconscious. Duality. the birth of darkness and light, consciousness and the unconscious.

The universe moves, pulses with energy and undefined possibility and form. Energy gathered and coalesced to form light, a ray of contrasting energy that is both created and consumed by the universe which humans can only know as the One, the source of all separateness, the sum of all separateness.

Light and darkness, the progenitors of all, the source of creation, of birth, and of death. Duality given form in separation. Consciousness, the light of separateness is charged with a will to reunion with the unconscious, the whole, the holy.

This is the gift and the curse of being human, the charge to make the holy journey back into wholeness, a reintegration where darkness and light were born.

I am not sure where these words find their source. I can’t really claim to be the author of these words…
